FINDING SER ON LA SERIES TRACTOR

hey all, new to board.looking at buying a jd la tractor for restoration.the ser# tag is gone,does anyone know if it is on the tractor in another spot besides the tag?also,would anyone have an idea of what this tractor would be worth before restoration?it is in pretty good shape now but needs to be redone to look showroom again.
